Chadwick School Opens Chadwick International School in Songdo, Korea
On June 25, 2010, Chadwick School received its license from the Korean Ministry of Education, Science and Technology to found and operate Chadwick International School in Songdo, Korea, the last step in the approval process to establish Chadwick’s international school campus. Opening day for the 260 coed students in kindergarten through grade seven was on Sept. 7, 2010. Beginning with the 2011-2012 academic year, Chadwick International began offering grades Pre-K - 8. Chadwick International's much-anticipated high school program opened in September 2012, bringing the school's enrollment to 700 students in grades Pre-K - 9.
Prior to his tenure at Chadwick International, CI Headmaster Jeff Mercer served as a Chadwick School Middle and Upper School history teacher, Upper School Dean of Students, Middle School Director, and Assistant Headmaster at Chadwick's Palos Verdes campus.
"Jeff Mercer is an exemplar of the core values, outstanding character, and academic excellence that are the goals of a Chadwick education. We could not ask for a finer educator to lead Chadwick International as it expands,” said Ted Hill, Chadwick School Headmaster. “We are excited to be opening our high school program next fall, and to continue building upon the adventure in education established by the Chadwick and Roessler families 78 years ago. The collaborative international education offered by Chadwick School's Palos Verdes and Songdo campuses offers our students and faculty a myriad of opportunities for interaction and partnership with their international peers in ways that can only expand their understanding of the complexities of the world."
